Their historic winning streak is over, but one loss doesn't appear to have made Cathedral Catholic any less dominant.

A week after their school record 26-game winning streak was snapped, the Dons left nothing to chance in a 48-7 trouncing of San Diego in an Eastern League game on Oct. 23.

Jonny Martin rushed for 129 yards and two touchdowns on 14 carries to lead the Dons.

Quarterback Max Brewer was an efficient 6-for-8, passing for 171 yards with three touchdowns and no interceptions.

Chance Early caught two passes for 105 yards, both of which went for Dons touchdowns.

Brewer completed a 40-yard scoring pass to Derek Thomas early in the first quarter, setting the tone for the win.

The Dons improved 1-1 in league and 6-1 overall for the season.

- Santa Fe Christian kept its unbeaten season alive with a 33-13 Coastal League North victory over Christian of El Cajon on Oct. 24.

Eagles quarterback Keaton Giannotti led a balanced offense that produced 384 total yards.

Giannotti rushed for 86 yards and one touchdown, and was 2-for-5 passing for 79 yards and one touchdown.

Sam Hoekstra rushed for 104 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries and also caught a 35-yard scoring pass from Giannotti.

Trevor Boucher rushed for 54 yards on eight carries for SFC.

Hoekstra eclipsed the century mark in rushing for the sixth straight week, pushing his season rushing total to 969 yards. The Eagles' big-play back is averaging 15.1 yards per carry and has scored nine touchdowns.

Giannotti got the Eagles going, scoring on a 56-yard run midway through the first quarter.

Joshua Estill led the Eagles defensively with 11 tackles and Kurt Luedtke contributed three tackles and two sacks.

The Eagles improved to 2-0 in league and 7-0 overall for the season.

- San Diego Jewish Academy defeated Midway Baptist of San Diego 27-14 in a Southern League game on Oct. 22.

Lions quarterback Joseph Mizrachi completed 13 of 17 pass attempts for 274 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions.

Mizrachi also helped the Lions with his feet, rushing for 131 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries.

Rafi Lurie caught five passes for 171 yards and two touchdowns.

The Lions improved to 4-1 in League and 5-1 overall for the season.

- Torrey Pines' three-game unbeaten streak ended with a 13-7 Avocado League loss to Mission Hills of San Marcos on Oct. 23.

The Falcons, who hadn't lost since Sept. 18 (they were 2-0-1 since then with one bye week), fell to 0-1-1 in league and 2-4-1 overall for the season.

The Falcons only score came on John Wilson's 38-yard scoring run late in the second quarter.

Volleyball:

After taking its lumps in nonleague play, two-time defending state champion Santa Fe Christian appears to be back on track.
